How to compare prices between shops fairly

A fair comparison between two shops is not about the final price alone, it means breaking that price into its parts and comparing each part separately.
Compare like with like
Do not compare a 21K ring with an 18K ring, or a solid piece with a hollow one, because a price difference there is natural and expected.
Make sure both pieces are close in karat, weight and type of craftsmanship so the comparison is fair and useful.
Also notice the quality of finishing and the strength of the clasp, since a small price difference may pay for better work that lasts longer.
Separate the gram price from workmanship
Ask each shop for today's gold price per gram, then for the workmanship per gram or for the whole piece.
One shop may advertise a lower gram price but charge more workmanship, or the other way round, and what really matters is the total per gram once both are added together.
Write down what each shop tells you in a note on your phone, so the numbers do not get mixed up after several visits.

Divide the final price by the weight to see what you actually pay for each gram, then compare that figure across shops.
Do not forget to add tax or fees if they apply, and ask whether the quoted price includes them, because this alone can change the result of the comparison.
For example, dividing the final price of a 10 g piece by 10 shows you the real price per gram with everything included.
Compare at the same time
Prices change during the day, so compare shop offers at times as close together as possible, so that you do not judge a shop unfairly because the market moved.
You can follow and compare shop prices in the app before you go out, then confirm the price at the shop itself, because the final price is the one written on the invoice.
Remember that good service, a clear calculation and the exchange policy are part of the value you get, not the price alone.
